The Five Themes Of Human Geography

Each point of earth is unique because of each point on earth has different site characteristics like water, soil, vegetation, latitude, and elevation. Location is a particular place or position. Toponym is a place name, especially one derived from a topographical feature. Site is an area of ground on which a town, building, or monument is constructed. Situation is a set of circumstances in which one finds oneself; a state of affairs. Geographers describe where things are by these three things scale, space, and connections.

Rank:  1. Place A- There would be a good source of food and transportation because it is on the coast.
Pace C- It is close to the coast to get food and good transportation but it is close to Place B which
could cause some competition.  It also has good farm land to be able to grow crops.
Place B- It is close to the coast to get food and good transportation but it is close to Place C which could result in trade.
Place E- Fertile farmland to be able to grow crops, transportation would be difficult because of natural barriers around it.
Place D- Within 5 miles of mountains, so transportation would be limited and food source is limited but able to trade with Location C.

2. Place A- Has good connections to the water/food because it is along the coast.
Place B and C- Both places are near each other.  This means places could trade with each other.  The body of water separates the two so they could trade fish/other food to eat.
Place D- Closest to Place C so these locations are able to trade with each other as well.  Place D is near mountains so traveling would be difficult.
Place E- Near good farmland so the settlers there could grow nice crops.  But, it is far from other settlements so trade would be very difficult.

3.  I would choose Settlement A because the ocean would provide a good food and water source so you would never have to worry about running out of food and it would provide a good source of transportation because you can get anywhere by boat.

4. The four places best from best to worst terms on site is B ,C, A, and D. Place B is the farthest from swamps and oceans which would not be convenient for settlement considering that it contains the most land, although it is right next to a river, its not completely surrounded. Place D is right in the middle of a saltwater swamp which is not convenient for settlement. I would recommend Place B for settlement as it contains the most land for settlement. From best to worst in situation is A, B , C, and D. This is because often times when land is destroyed or dead, the land tends to be more dry.

 5. If I rank the places I think C would be first because it has everything, D would be second, B would be third, A would be fourth, E would be last. I would recommend C for settlement because there is everything around you.

6.  I would not change anything in my evaluation because the five places would stay the same. I would not recommend a different place for settlement.
