        Pericles was a influential statesman, orator, and general of Ancient Athens. Pericles led Athens during  most of the golden age. He also had three goals and they were to strengthen Athenian Democracy, to hold and strengthen the empire, and to glorify Athens. A Direct Democracy is ran by having citizens rule directly and through representatives which means when they are when making a decision it has less people that would say no and just go through to the officials. Direct Democracy is used for making laws, directly electing, and also dismissing officials. The Delian League worked because it was an alliance between Greek city-states which would stop some was and that was led by Athens. There was an alliance over 300 would eventually be dominated so Athens could take over. When Athens took over the Athenian Empire started. Athens became stronger and more aggressive so that they could stay leaders.
