Philip II, Alexander the Great, and Darius III

Philip II- Philip II was known as Philip II of Spain because he was the King of Spain. He was born in May 21, 1527. He died in September 13, 1598. King Philip II was the King of the Spaniards from 1556–1598 and King of the Portuguese as Philip I from 1580–1598. Philip II was remembered for his success and failures. His Successes were that his army beat Ottomans so they were defeated in 1571. Another success is that the spread of Protestantism in Italy and Spain was prevented because of him. His failures in his government was that the revolt of the Netherlands began in 1566, it sacrificed the Invincible Armada to the English in 1588. 

Alexander the Great - Alexander the Great was a King of the Ancient Greek Kingdom of Macedon and a member of the Argead dynasty. He took over for his father Philip II's throne at the age of 20. He was born around July 20 356 B.C in Pella. He died June 323 BC in Babylon. Alexander had a horse as his bestfrined who was called Bucephalus. 

Darius III- Darius III was also called Codommanus. He was born in 380 BC in Persia. He died in  330 BC in Bactria. Darius belonged to a royal family and was placed on the throne by Eunuch Bagoas. Darius sent two letters of friendship to Alexander.  Alexander rejected both letters and they went to war. 

What is the connection between them? 

The connection between them is that Philip II is Alexander the Great's father. Alexander the Great and Darius III are enemies and went to war.

  1. You got the wrong Phillip II. Yours lived almost 2000 years after Alexander.
