A Philosopher is a person engaged or learned in philosophy, especially as an academic discipline. The Greek Philosophers based their thinking on the universe, Land, sky and sea. Socrates was a Greek philosopher and is known as one of the founders of Western philosophy and also as being the first moral philosopher of the Western ethical tradition of thought. Socrates was admired by people who understood his ideas. Others who didn't believe his ideas were very confused and puzzled. Some of Athenian found the ideas of Socrates so disturbing because he was neglecting the city gods and also forced the Athenians to listen to his teachings. The jury disagreed and Socrates was condemned to death. Plato was also a Athenian philosopher and founder of the Platonist school of thought. Plato was a student of Socrates. Plato writings dominated philosophic thought in Europe for nearly 1,500 years. Sometime in the 370s B.C., Plato wrote his most famous work.
