The Greeks Part Two
- The Persian Empire was conquered by the Greeks.
- Their most affective weapon was the Trireme.
- The Trireme was the fastest ship at the time.
- The Trireme rowed by up to 170 men on three levels of the ship.
- The Trireme was used as a battering ram also.
- The Triremes was also very expensive to buy.
- The Persian war was between the Persian Empire .V.S. Greece.
- Greece had know chance because the Persian Empire was huge and Greece was small.
- Pheidippides ran to Athens that is why it is called a Marathon today.
- Greeks were warlike people like the Spartans.
- The Greeks invented drama as an art form and built the first theaters in the West.
- Athens had a very strong navy.
- 490 BC: Persian fleet attacks Marathon, but loses.
- 480 BC: Greeks abandon Athens to fight Persia at sea, winning at Straits of Salamis.
- Pheidippides ran to Athens that is why it is called a Marathon today.
