Tarquin as a Tyrant


  • Tarquin seized power and acted like and old school tyrant. 
  • On of Tarquin's daughters Tullia kills her husband and her own sister.
  • Tarquin's grandfather was the fifth king of Rome. 
  • Tullia talks Tarquin into taking over her fathers throne. 
  • Tarquin becomes king and send Tullia his daughter home for safety. 
  • On Tullia's was home she find her fathers dead body and Tarquin refuses to bury him. 
  • A lot of people did not like Tarquin and how he ruled so they ran him out so he wasn't king.
  • Tarquin terrible behavior made them never want to be subject to the rule of kings ever again, that was an attitude for centuries. 
  • Plebs were 98% of the population.
  • Plebs had to serve in the army but could not hold office. 
  • Plebs had no legal rights.
  • Plebs were threatened with debt slavery. 
  • The laws were written out on the The Twelve tables which were tablets that got carved.
